Jef Van Campen is a Belgian painter and aquarellist. He is best known for his marine themed work. The recurrence of this theme stems from a profound love for the sea, harbors, and their beautiful ships. After years of studying the anatomy of different vessels, he is able to recreate a near-perfect image of ships he has never seen in real life. His repertoire also features portraits and
the occasional still life. Jef Van Campen uses color in an almost abstract or expressionist manner and creates a spontaneous experience by doing so. His work has been exhibited numerous times in museums, corporate and private collections in Belgium, Europe and beyond.
